Jacob's New Bedroom + Bathroom

Jacob's bedroom was next on our list to paint + decorate. We listened to some of his ideas and then planned to work on it the whole month of June while he was gone. It was nice to have 4 whole weeks to get it done (although we ended up cramming everything into the last 2 weeks because of our family vacation, VBS week + swim lessons.)

Scot's parents gave us their old king guest bed (with Linda's handmade American quilt) and the antique furniture that was handed down from Scot's grandparents when we moved in, so we wanted to work around what we already had. (What a blessing to have hand-me-downs, right?)

It was more of a catch-all room before, but I just love how his new room looks now! But, first - here's how his room looked before:

After Jake left, I bought new bedding and new accessories to see if they'd work before we painted:

We picked my favorite Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter paint for the walls and went to town!

Here's the after:

Aren't these animal canvases so funny? (The squirrel holding a Starbucks cup is my favorite.)

Jake really wanted a desk for high school, so I found this cool antique desk on Craigslist. Perfect size for this little corner of the room. (The dry-erase calendar will be a huge help in keeping him organized in high school too.)

I bought him a new bookshelf on Craigslist that better fits this small space and can hold all his trophies.

Love this cool Italian soccer poster Scot found! (New black clock coming soon, but the white one works for now.)

I painted the accents on all the furniture a dark gray with chalk paint and spray-painted the hardware oil rubbed bronze. Totally gave it all a new life and a new look for his room!

Before + after:

This little corner is one of my favorites.

And his room wouldn't be complete without showing off his updated beach-style bathroom:

DIY handmade industrial pipe toilet paper holder (tutorial coming soon).

DIY handmade industrial pipe hand towel holder (tutorial coming soon).

Love having a finished space for our oldest boy to live + use + grow into through high school and college.

It's his new Happy Place for sure.
