Brooklyn loved the new jewelry so much that she wanted to send her own little message to Mamaw and Papaw herself:
So cute. Jake was at a friend's house until late, so he opened his later on.
The next morning, we woke up on Resurrection Sunday and enjoyed a nice, yummy breakfast that Scot made - biscuits and sausage with fruit. (Jake detests pictures nowadays, so there's that.)
And these three opened their baskets full of candy before church:
Our crew before church on Easter Sunday:
Mike and Linda joined us at the 11:00 service at our church, which was so good. After that, we all met up at Miller's Grocery for a huge Southern-style lunch buffet out in the country of Christiana. It's something Scot and I have been doing with our kids for several years now on Easter, but it was nice to have everyone together this year. There was Mike and Linda, Kris and Jenn and their 3 kiddos and Jenn's mom Martha. Our little fam was in the back. :)
After lunch, we all came back to our house. I had the 6 kids do a Bible activity first - each one had a laminated sheet listing the 66 books of the Bible, all color-coded + 66 popsicle sticks with each book of the Bible and matching color written on it + they had to lay out the sticks in order in order to get their bag of candy and a golden egg with money inside. They really got into that one!
Then, it was time for our annual Easter egg hunt! We do this with our kids every Easter, but this year it was fun to have all the cousins together. It was raining outside that afternoon, so we did an indoor hunt instead and the kids had a blast! I gave each one a certain color and they all had a dozen eggs to find, just like Mums used to do with us grandkids years ago. (Scot, Kris + Mike took time to hide all the eggs, and I think that was more challenging than anything because they forgot where they hid some and ended up hunting too. Ha!)
I had a snack table full of puff corn, chips, varieties of Easter candy, lemonade + sparkling cider for everyone to snack on through the afternoon, and us adults even got to catch up and chat. It was a really nice day with family.
But, ultimately, it was a good time to reflect on all Jesus has done - that He died and rose again. And that we're actually free!!
It just doesn't get any better than that.
