Weekend Getaway

This past weekend was Scot's company's annual employee of the year event at the Opryland Hotel - a weekend that's always busy and takes a lot of work to pull off (with 500-some employees to keep track of), but something we look forward to every year.

Scot went to the hotel on Wednesday to start working and stayed there till Sunday, but the big kids and I joined him after school on Friday while Grammy stayed home with Connor.

Our nice room in the Cascades:

The beautiful view off the patio:

The kids right before they went to the kids room:

(There were five babysitters with 15 other kids - and the room was full of pizza, chicken nuggets, candy, Wii games, crafts...they didn't complain one bit.)

Then, it was time for the cocktail party, dinner, dessert and awards program to begin!

The next morning, we woke up in time for an early breakfast together.

Scot and the kids changed into their swim gear, while I packed up my stuff and got ready to leave. The kids were so excited to go swimming and wear their new swimsuits from Mamaw and Papaw.

(After swimming for a few hours, they ordered pizza, went to the Wildhorse Saloon with some company folks, got ice cream, stayed up late and watched the movie Frozen back in the room. They had a total blast with dad.)

I came home and this was my cute date on Saturday night (at Walmart, no less):

Our fun weekend was short-lived, though, since Brooklyn started feeling bad as soon as they got home on Sunday. What we thought was just exhaustion turned into vomiting and diarrhea by 8pm and continued on through the night. With Clorox wipes and paper towels currently in hand, I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't spread to anyone else.

Thankful for our fun little getaway with the kids. I know for Scot, all that work is totally worth it.
