Family Life Verses

For Connor's dedication, part of our homework, as parents, was choosing a life verse for him. A verse (or two) from Scripture that we felt pertained to his unique personality, while also giving us specific words to pray for. What first began as choosing a life verse for our littlest one, turned into choosing life verses for all of us. A family spiritual adventure.

These are the verses we chose for each member in our family. Verses God laid on our hearts, tailored to each person's needs. Verses we can pray over our children, day after day. Verses that will get us through the good times and our darkest hours. Verses we will remember from the time our children were little to the time they walk down the aisle and start families of their own. Verses we can share and encourage others with. Verses we can live by.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30

"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love
into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." Romans 5:1-5

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Colossians 2:6-7

"But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you." I Samuel 12:24

We're wrapping our family up in God's Word and His love, like a big ol' bear hug. And really, what's better than that?
