So...this was our crew on the way to church on Sunday:
Yeah, it was a wee-bit cramped in the back. But, instead of letting the kids wallow in self-pity for too long, we took that 30 minutes on the way to church to talk about how things were when we were growing up and when their grandparents were growing up. No seat belts, no car seats, no air conditioning, no cup holders, no CD players, no DVD players, no heated seats, no reverse cameras, no automatic windows. And the fact that the older generation used to sit on their siblings' laps in the back of the car? That was over-the-top. The kids were shocked at how different life was back then, and I know they'll be so thankful to get our big minivan back and enjoy all that space again.
Since Jake had to suffer a bit that morning, I thought I'd take him out that afternoon for an impromptu ice cream date at Baskin Robbins. He loved the one-on-attention and time with just mom. (He played around with the rental car's sunroof for awhile too. It was cute.)
A nice little get-away before we got a car-load of groceries at Walmart - which he helped put away at home. I could get used to this!
