I'm a firm believer in looking ahead and making plans. When we found out I was pregnant with Connor in the ER last year, we started making plans right away.
Living in a 1600-square foot home, we knew three kids and two adults was going to be a challenge. But, Scot and I both took a "can-do" attitude, thanked God for a roof over our heads and went to work making everyone and everything fit.
But, as we all know, life doesn't always go as planned.
In case you couldn't tell, Connor has been growing like a weed. Like so fast that we can't even keep up now. (He's grown into a new size of clothes almost every month.) We sold the crib since it didn't fit in Brooklyn and Connor's shared room and bought a mini-crib instead. We had the pack-n-play set up in our bedroom, so there were a couple different options where he could sleep.
Last week, Scot and I finally decided we were ready to get our room back again. It was time to move Connor to his room full-time.
The first problem. He outgrew his mini-crib a month ago. So, we moved the pack-n-play into Connor's room and that's where he sleeps all the time now.
The second problem. The maximum weight limit for the pack-n-play is 30 pounds. With Jake and Brooklyn, we used the pack-n-play for traveling and such until they were two. With how quick Connor's been growing, this kid may break that weight limit by the fall or winter.
There's not enough room for a toddler bed. Or a twin mattress on the floor. Our long-term plan of using the bunk bed in the boys' room won't work with a one-year old. With how fast he's growing, we don't have as much time as we thought to figure this all out.
Do we switch the kids' rooms? Will that even give us more room? Do we put a bed or a mattress on the floor in our room or the family room? Do we move? Can we even afford to move at this point? Should I get a little job on the side? Guess we need to cut out cable and going out to eat once-a-week...Is there anything else we can cut in our budget?
These are just some of the thoughts that are running through our heads right now. Along with some other "stuff", coaching Jake's soccer team twice a week and on Saturdays, work and just the day-to-day life of running a household, I'd say we're a bit stressed.
We're looking at all our options. Hopeful but praying for God's direction. Desperately wondering...what's next?
