Connor, you are 2 months old! At 8 weeks old, you weigh 12 pounds, 15 ounces and measure 22.7 inches long. You wear size 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. You are a healthy, growing boy.
At 3 weeks old, you started having random crying fits that lasted 3-4 hours a couple times a week. By 5 weeks, the crying turned into screaming episodes a few times a week and lasted anywhere from 3-5 hours straight. At 6 weeks, you had an upper GI x-ray done and the doctor said you have acid reflux. By 8 weeks, the screaming episodes became an everyday occurrence. After further testing, we finally figured out you have a severe milk protein allergy along with a bad case of reflux.
You have gone from soy formula to Nutramigen Lipil to Nutramigen AA Lipil - which is what seems to fit you the best. It is super expensive but it is worth it to see you so happy again and not be in pain. You eat 6 ounces every 4 hours (about 36 ounces a day) with a few teaspoons of rice cereal and so far you've never had a problem switching from one formula to another.
For medications, you are on Zantac and Prevacid twice a day to help with your reflux and Carafate four times a day to help coat your esophagus and stomach before feeds. You get your meds about 15-30 minutes before you eat and we try to keep you upright for at least 30 minutes after you eat.
Your favorite part of the day is bath time. You typically take a bottle around 5:30-6:30 pm and then we give you a bath before going to bed. You sit in the tub and laugh and giggle and kick your rubber ducky around. You really come to life in the water!
You love your car seat. When you get really fussy, all you want to do is sit in your car seat and get rocked to sleep. You take some of your naps in it and we may even try putting you to sleep in it at night to help with your reflux. For now, you sleep in the pack-n-play in our bedroom. Some nights you sleep 6 hours straight and other nights you wake up once during the night. Not too bad, but we are still trying to catch up on sleep!
What were your siblings up to at this age?
At 2 months, Jacob was already sucking his thumb. (He started that at 5 weeks.)
And Brooklyn loved looking at books before bed.
This has been one of the most frustrating, exhausting, worrisome months of our married lives. It's been so hard to see you in pain the past few weeks and not be able to help you. It has brought tears to our eyes so many times, but we're grateful to get it all figured out...or, so we hope!
We love you, little man! We look forward to watching your fun personality grow more and more everyday.
