Pick-Up Day

We picked up Jacob from his dad's yesterday. Well, my parents really picked him up in Ohio (since they live nearby and all), and we met up with them at the halfway point in Louisville for lunch.

Did I mention The Cheesecake Factory was close-by? We had an impromptu birthday celebration for the four August birthdays in the family. We had huge portions of pizza and lots of cheesecake for dessert. It was fun - definitely an extra treat compared to our regular pick-up days. Thank you, Mom and Brian, for brightening our day!

Too bad Brooklyn was in a mood that day. She loved eating her ice cream and seeing Mamaw and Papaw, but that was about it.

Jacob was so excited to see his dad this weekend. He had been looking forward to this for weeks. He wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate his birthday and have fun with his dad. Little did we know how quickly that excitement would turn to anger and disappointment by the end of the weekend. Unbeknownst to us, Jacob's dad surprised him late Friday night {around 1am} with yet another new house, which meant another new room, another new neighborhood, another new thing to get accustomed to. Including the well water. It was so stinky that Jacob didn't take a bath or shower. It was just too much for him to deal with during his birthday weekend. And I don't blame him a bit.

He is very upset and depressed right now. He told me he would like to see our family counselor, so I know he feels pretty darn bad.

We're trying to find the good in this situation and do the best thing for Jacob. And all we can do right now is pray.
