We started off the day by going to a free family kids movie, only to find out all four theaters were full. Darn. The kids had endless amounts of energy so off to McD's we went. No food, all play. And grimy, black feet. Yuck.
While Brooklyn had quiet time in her room, Jake and I painted with watercolors. He wasn't too thrilled about it at first, but he quickly got into it. He decided that doing crafts with Mom isn't so bad after all.
Our masterpieces: (Aren't they just beautiful?)
(Truthfully, I was surprised that Jake wanted to paint a rainbow of all things, but he insisted on it so I let him have fun.)
The kids enjoyed some snuggle time while watching a movie. Quiet times like these are priceless.
We celebrated Grammy's "26th" birthday with cheesy baked chicken, asparagus, mashed potatoes and warm rolls. Oh, and hot fudge ice cream cake for dessert.
We spent the rest of the evening catching lightning bugs. A favorite summer pastime for all.
I love summer days like these.
