Family Time

On Friday, we had Scot's parents over for dinner and celebrated Papa's birthday. I fixed two Italian meatloaves, cheesy potatoes and asparagus casserole with olive, bacon and cheddar rolls. Oh, and there were strawberry and blackberry shortcakes for dessert - with whipped cream, of course. After dinner, we put Brooklyn to bed early and played some UNO Attack. It was a fun night with the fam.

Jake played his second-to-last soccer game on Saturday morning. He and the rest of the team played a great game. You couldn't even tell they hadn't played for a whole month due to all the flooding.

We ate a greasy lunch at Toot's and spent the rest of the day at the Discovery Center. It was their annual Turtle Day celebration. There were so many fun things to do.

After playing around inside, we headed outside. They handed out free turtle ice cream which Brooklyn loved!

Jake was happy to get his face painted. With a turtle, no less.

Afterwards, he fished around with a net for turtles, fish or anything that moved in the water. He really got into it.

Then the guys put on their rain boots and went searching for turtles and fish in the nearby creek.

Brooklyn was tired and started getting a nasty cough and runny nose, so we went home soon after.

I surprised Jake by taking him to the new Shrek movie, just the two of us. We don't go to the movies too often, so he was thrilled. We loaded up on some candy and soda for dinner and enjoyed the cute flick. It was our first ever 3D movie together, and we didn't even get sick!

This is our last weekend together as a family of four for quite awhile, so we're trying to soak up as much family time as we can. Jake goes to his dad's next Saturday, so he will be gone during the whole month of June. We are enjoying every moment with him while we can.

(Oh, and there's only 3 days left of school. Yes!)
